On the northern edge of St Ives, this north facing beach doesn’t receive as much swell as some of the beaches further up or down the coast but still gets good. It can often be used as indicator for larger waves to be found on other beaches – if Porthmeor is 1 foot, beaches like Gwithian can be 2-3 feet. The beach is popular with holidaymakers for its white sand and clear water and often gets busy during the summer months. The beach size does not vary much through the tides and the 500m of beach is popular with beginners and advanced surfers alike. It favours a southerly wind. There is limited parking at both ends of the beach.
